Picnic at the Park

For those of you that are interested, we will meet at the Harris Street Park at 11:00am on Saturday, October 20th. The park has restrooms, a picnic shelter, gazebo, a grill, basketball courts and other amenities.

Feel free to pack a picnic lunch or bring something for the grill. We'll hang out and have a good time!

The October 15th deadline for your payment for the reunion has arrived. If you plan to attend and you are sending the check late please email me at ilhs97@yahoo.com to let me know to expect it.

I need all checks no later than Wednesday October 17th. At that time I will pay the caterer and give him the final headcount so that he can determine how much food to prepare. (i.e. If you don't pay, there won't be enough BBQ!) If you plan to attend and not eat from the buffet, you will still need to pay (a reduced price) for your share for reunion costs. I will collect this money at the door.

Answers To Your Questions

I received a few questions via email, so I thought I'd answer them here for everyone to see:

Q: What is the "dress code" for the reunion?
A: It is completely casual!

Q: What will be on the buffet at the reunion?
A: BBQ, slaw, baked beans, rolls, hushpuppies. The meal price includes a non-alcoholic beverage. If this does not suit your taste or diet, the Town Tavern Restaurant is attached to Suite 160 and you can order from their menu.

Q: How much does it cost to get ino the football game?
A: Admission to I.L.H.S. football games is $5.oo

Q: Where and when is the family picnic at the park?
A: I am still working on the details of the family get-together. I'll post the details here on the blog when I get it worked out.

Are you ready for some football?

I just sent the evites inviting everyone to meet at the IL Homecoming Football game on October 19th at 7:30 p.m. I hope everyone recieved the evite...as I mentioned in the last post, I've had some difficulty with sending the evites. Hope you all can attend. I'm looking forward to it. I haven't been to a high school football game....well, since high school. So, if I'm doing the math right that's 10 years! :-)

I called the school to see if we could have an area of the stands roped off for us. I haven't heard back yet, but I'll let you all know. Please RSVP with the evite, so I'll know how big of an area to tell them we need.

Evites have been sent

The evites have been sent. I had some trouble importing the email addresses from yahoo to the evite account. Some people have told me that their invitation was addressed to someone else. If this happens to you, I apolegize. I'm not sure why the names and email addresses got mixed up. Another one of those "computer thingys" that I'll never figure out! Anyway, if you have not recieved the evite by email, please let me know. The payment information is on the evite, but I'll repeat it....

More Details

October 20th is just around the corner! We will have our 10 year reunion at Suite 160 in Fort Mill that night. The cost is $16.50 per person/$33 per couple. That price includes a buffet-style dinner with soda/tea provided by Town Tavern. Payment will be due in advance, prior to the reunion. The details will be provided on your "evite". I have decided to send evites instead of paper invitations by mail. If for some reason you do not recieve the evite in your email by October 5th, please let me know. I want to get the final count of who will attend from these evites.

New Location

Thanks to all of you who tried to get me in contact with Coach Pittman or another member of the American Legion. However, we have decided on a new location to have the reunion. It is a better deal financially and it's a newer, nicer place...overall I think it will work better. Stay tuned for more details!

Have you RSVP'd?

If you have not sent me an RSVP and you think that you may be able to attend... or if you know for sure that October 20th does not work for you... or you're just not interested in attending, please just send me a quick email and let me know. I need an unofficial headcount when I talk to the caterer about the menu and pricing next week. After I speak with him, I will let you know the price per person. This is going to be a low key event, so I don't plan on it costing you very much to attend.

So, let me know if you might attend and if you will bring a guest. I will send an official invite later, so if you respond now you can still back out later.

Can you 'hook me up'?

"Hook me up"..."Shout out"...Honestly, I don't talk like this in person! Cute titles, though, right?! Anyway, I was wondering if any of you have connections to a local business. I would like to get businesses to sponsor tables at the reunion. Each table would have a placecard listing the sponsor. We would also have a large banner or sign listing all of the sponsors. If you know anyone who owns a local business that would be interested in advertising and helping us out at the same time, please let me know!

Hey...I want to send a shout out to my sister-in-law, Marie Therrell Prevette, for helping me out. She is the first official inductee to the reunion committee, and she's going full force! (I hope I didn't pressure her into the position:-) !)Anyone else want to join her? No pressure! :-) Also, wanted to thank Marie's sister, Mary, for her help. You guys remember the twins right? I need your help....

It would help me tremendously if you would shoot me a quick email to let me know if you are planning to attend the reunion on October 20th. This is not "set in stone", I just need an estimate for planning purposes.

Also, I am trying to rent the American Legion in Fort Mill for our reunion. We can get a discount on the rental rate if we have a member of the American Legion sign for us. Does anyone know a member who is willing to sign for us? Coach Pittman is a member, but I have been unable to get a phone number for him...does anyone know how to contact him?
